At Autumn's Mellowing - October 2019

 

At Autumn’s Mellowing was our second pop-up event at Handpicked Productions.

It was a seasonal celebration of stories and shadows, poems and posies, firelight, feasting, and apples galore. We invited storyteller Ian Douglas and wordsmith Emma McGordon to guide guests through an afternoon of creative activity into an evening filled with warmth and conviviality.

Ian Douglas, a beloved figure on the storytelling circuit and fast becoming a national treasure, kept everyone entertained with his enchanting autumnal tales around the campfire.

Emma McGordon, an award-winning Cumbrian performance poet, was commissioned to capture the spirit of the season in her distinctive voice. She premiered new work celebrating nature, growth, and the changing light of autumn.

The Cumbria Orchard Group joined us to juice apples on site and shared insights into their important work conserving, promoting, and celebrating orchards across North Cumbria.
