We’re excited to share that Handpicked Productions is moving into a new home in Cleator Moor - marking an exciting new chapter for our work in the community.

Since 2024, we’ve been based on the top floor of Phoenix Court. Thanks to our continued growth and investment in the town, we’re now moving into a larger, fully accessible space on the ground floor of the newly renovated Phoenix Court buildings. This move will allow us to expand our creative programme in a community that has welcomed us with open arms.

​

Over the past two years, we’ve delivered a wide range of creative opportunities for families and young people, including our school holiday workshops through SumArt To Do and our weekly Art Gyms sessions. Most recently, we brought people of all ages together for The Mid-Winter Hullabaloo - a celebration of craft, music and theatre created in collaboration with local schools and community groups across Cleator Moor, Moresby and Egremont.

Our new space is light, spacious and fully accessible, providing a dedicated base for both our day-to-day work and the continued growth of our creative programme across West Cumbria.

Director Anne Timpson said:

“We are really pleased to be moving into our new home in the newly developed Phoenix Court buildings. The space will enable us to deliver a more varied and ambitious programme, and being located next to the library gives us a great opportunity to connect with more people in the community. We would like to thank Paul and his team at Phoenix Youth for their support and for hosting our workshops to date. We look forward to this next chapter and to welcoming you all.”

We’re currently getting settled into the new space and look forward to welcoming you soon. Our public opening will take place on Saturday 16 May, alongside our popular ‘pop-up’ Sekers Fabric Sale. Visitors will be able to explore the space, hear about upcoming projects, and browse and buy a collection of vintage and new fabrics from 11am–4pm.

Art Gyms for young people aged 10–16 will be among the first sessions to take place in the new venue, starting on Monday 20 April and running weekly during term time from 6–8pm.
